Halo sectional matrix rings consist of strong, rigid glass-filled nylon tines and a super-elastic nitinol ring that maintains its strength and longevity over 1000 uses. Halo rings are anatomically contoured to be gentle on soft tissue, help reduce flash, ensure a natural shape, and maintain the integrity and shape of the matrix band. They are stackable, allowing for use with MODs and other Class II restorations, and provide sufficient separation for adjacent restorations as needed.

Clinical Technique

Select an appropriate matrix band based on required occlusogingival height. Using tweezers, grip the matrix band tab and bend as needed, then place interproximally with the concave surface facing the tooth to be restored.
Select wedge that best adapts matrix band to the gingival portion of the preparation. Grip wedge with cotton pliers.
Light finger pressure may need to be applied to the matrix band to prevent it from being dislodged during wedge placement.
If needed, an additional wedge may be used to provide greater adaptation to gingival cavosurface.
Carefully place Halo ring using the ring forceps.
The ring should be placed as low as possible with the tine ends of the ring straddling the wedge on each side of the tooth.
Inspect matrix band, wedge, and ring placement to ensure that the matrix band is well adapted to the cavosurface margins and that it is in intimate contact with the adjacent tooth.

Long-Lasting, Nitinol Rings

Although the glass-filled nylon tines of the Halo ring are strong and rigid enough to securely hold the Halo matrix band in place, they are also gentle on soft tissue thanks to their anatomical contours that match the natural curvature of the tooth. The contours of the Halo ring are designed to help reduce flash, ensure a natural shape, and maintain the integrity and shape of the matrix band. Less flash and natural contours mean less time is needed to finish and polish the final composite restoration.

Halo rings are stackable, allowing for use with MODs and other Class II restorations and provide sufficient separation for adjacent restorations, if needed. Made of super-elastic nitinol that maintains its force with less fatigue, Halo rings will retain their strength and longevity, are fully autoclavable, and can be used over 1000 times.
